See those little ones in the photos above? They’re my babies. They’ve grown so quickly, but I love these photos so much that I’ve kept them here. Along with my husband, and my golden doodle Chloe, they’re my whole world.

I’ve always been both an artist and a numbers person. In fact, before photography, I built a career in finance. I went to UMASS Boston and earned my degree in Business Management, then spent years at a large mutual fund company where I analyzed spreadsheets, ran queries, managed payroll, and of course put out fires. My cubicle walls were covered in photos and colleagues often reminded me, “You need to do what you love.”

They were right. In 2007, I researched photography schools, built a PowerPoint presentation (complete with pros, cons, and of course my photos of animals and flowers), and convinced my husband to let me take the leap. That decision changed my life. I enrolled at Boston University’s Center for Digital Imaging Arts, apprenticed with established photographers, and photographed 30 weddings as a second shooter to build my portfolio. By 2008, after the birth of my son, I left finance and launched my own photography business.

Over the years, my lifelong love of animals shifted to a passion for photographing children and families. My journey to motherhood—including adoption and infertility—has made me treasure capturing authentic, meaningful moments even more. Every session I photograph is a reminder of how amazing it is that I get to do what I love and provide a meaningful end product.

I still love the order and logic of numbers—spreadsheets, financial planning, and the business side of running a studio. That balance between creativity and structure has allowed me to run my studio successfully for 18’ish years.

I truly love what I do—believe me, I’m much better at taking portraits than I am at writing about myself!

Catharine Morris Photography LLC is an New Hampshire based portrait photography studio located in Litchfield, NH. Caty specialized in high school seniors, families and weddings. Serving Manchester, Nashua, Concord, Bedford and surrounding communities.
