New Hampshire Seacoast Family Portraits

7 years ago to the day, September 10th to be exact, I photographed Kelly and Kevin’s wedding at the beautiful Turner Hill in Ipswich, Massachusetts. I had the pleasure of reuniting with them, on the their anniversary to photograph both of them and their two children, Morgan and Parker.

Kelly reached out to me a couple months ago to plan their session at the beach. I grew up on  Cape Cod, so any chance I get to go to the beach I jump on. Kelly and Kevin settled and started their family on the seacoast of New Hampshire so that is where we choose to do their session. When we planned this a couple months ago, we did not think about the possibility of high tide. If you know Hampton beaches you will know that when the tide is high, sometimes there is no beach:) That is a little bit of an issue for a beach session. The next issue, The Hampton Beach Seafood Festival. I found out a couple weeks before the 10th of September that that is one of the busiest weekends in Hampton. The last potential issue, seaweed. I am not sure why, but there is a crazy amount of seaweed on most New Hampshire beaches. So with all that to consider, Kelly and Kevin had to go out and scope a few areas. They decided on a private beach about 2 minutes from their house. It was such an amazing choice! There was no seaweed, there was enough beach for us to work with and most importantly Seafood Fest was in a whole different area of town!

I brought my trusty side kick, Landon with me. He does my lighting, reflector, and baby entrainment at sessions. He is quite good at it too, until he gets side tracked and starts digging holes, searching and finding crabs, you know all the things 9 year old boys would rather do then assist their mother. We did not have to worry much though, the sun went behind a cloud and we might have had the most gorgeous lighting ever. Also to my surprise, there was no wind. Not a bit. I have found that Mack’s Apples, the apple orchard I photograph at in Londonderry, NH has way more wind. Surprising right?

Anyway, time for the most important part. My favorite images from the day. It was super hard to narrow them down, Kevin and Kelly’s family are just so cute!

Happy Anniversary Kelly and Kevin! You certainly have a gorgeous family and have created a beautiful life together.
