Newborn Portraiture
Newborn sessions take place at my studio in Litchfield, New Hampshire or if the weather permits we can bring your new little bundle outdoors. The session could last up to two (2) hours as I try to photograph around five (5) different setups (baskets, blankets, etc). I do provide props such as hats, headbands, blankets, wraps and buckets but you are more then welcome to bring your own. The final product is about 15-30 high-resolution digital images presented in both color as well as black and white. The images are placed in an online gallery for viewing, sharing or ordering professional prints.
Maternity & Newborn Portraiture can be combined! Please contact us for more details.

Do you have questions? I have the answers! Please check out the list of frequently asked questions that have come up over the years.
Questions about Caty as a Photographer:
- How long have you been a photographer?
- How did you become a photographer?
- What kind of cameras do you use?
- What lenses do you use?
- Where is your studio located?
- When should I get maternity photos taken?
You should plan on doing your photos between your 32nd and 36th week of pregnancy. This is a great time where you should be feeling well and have lots of energy. Beyond this point, I have found that mom’s to be, just want to be moms:-) It starts to get uncomfortable.
- Where will the session take place?
The majority of sessions take place around the Litchfield, NH area. Your preference is important, indoors or out. The studio is in Litchfield and is gorgeous but I also LOVE the outdoors and love natural light. Depending on the season we can photograph down at the Merrimack River, it is GORGEOUS! I also love local Apple Orchards as they provide so much shade, great color and backgrounds.
- What is your turn around time for my photos?
Maternity photos are put online around 2-3 weeks after your session. You will be notified via email when they are ready. If you opt for maternity and a newborn session the digital download will be available together few weeks after your newborn session. If you need them earlier for some reason let me know!
- Do you have a travel fee?
Yes! There is slight fee of 50 cents per mile outside of a 15 mile radius of Litchfield, NH.
- What should I bring with me?
My first suggestion will be to look at maternity photos you are drawn to for style and outfit ideas. I do offer maternity gowns in quite a few colors, some open in the front for an exposed baby belly, others are tight. When I think Maternity I think, elegant. This may be your only baby and the only time you will look this amazing. So my immediate thought is to create art and images that are breathtaking. On the other hand, it is also a super fun time in your life, where maybe you can do crazy things or eat crazy things and get away with it, so with that in mind here are a few suggestions:
-Jeans you wore before pregnant, maternity jeans, yoga pants -tank tops -strapless bra -husband’s button down shirt -ultrasound photo -a pair of babies shoes -accessories, necklaces, etc. -super cute dresses that are tight. I know.. tight! Like pre pregnancy dresses that are stretchy. Why? So we can see that belly! OH and even cuter shoes that that dress! Lots of them, boots too:-)
Be yourself and stick to your style. If you happen to love modern and trendy stick to it for your shoot! Remember, you are beautiful! This is such a short period of your life, embrace it and rock the belly!
- Do you do boudoir maternity photos?
Why yes I do!!! I love boudoir photography and love to incorporate boudoir with maternity. Every image will remain very private in a password protected gallery online if you choose to incorporate boudoir style photos.
Newborn Portraiture:
Newborn portraiture should take place within the first two weeks after the newborn arrives. Preferably around 7 to 10 days. The reason… they are so sleepy and really flexible!
- Where does the session take place?
Sessions take place in my studio in Litchfield, NH. If you can not make it to the studio, I can travel, please inquire.
- When and how do I book a session?
You can book a session as early as you would like into your pregnancy! Please fill out the contact form and I will mark your due date on my calendar. I will send out a questionnaire to get to know you and your family better before your session. Style is covered in this questionnaire, like how you have the nursery designed (if you have one) colors that you love, etc.
- How long does a session last?
A typical session lasts about 2 to 3 hours. My studio is HOT too, it has to be for the babies. Please plan accordingly and dress in layers.
- How do I prepare for my newborn session?
Once you have your little one, I ask that you contact me to let me know. We will schedule your session and I will send along a wonderful little “How to Prepare” document that goes over some very helpful information when preparing for your session.
- Are parents and siblings allowed in the photos?
Absolutely! Depending on the siblings age we will photograph them either at the beginning or end, either way we will get them! Please let me know ahead of time if you do want family photos so I can prepare.
- Can you do pictures with my newborn and my pet dog?
I definitely can, BUT often the dog is not familiar with the newborn so please just let me know if he/she will join us and I will give you a few instructions on how to prepare for the shoot!
