I love it when I see clients multiple times, I get to see children grow and learn so much about families.
I had met this family last year for the first time, when they had one shy little girl, Kendall. At the end of last year, I got an email about the birth of Brady, their new addition. I had the pleasure of photographing Brady’s newborn portraits at my Manchester, NH Studio. We talked at the time about shooting at St. Anselm College in Manchester, NH. The goal was to take some family photos after Jess (Kendall and Brady’s mother) has recovered from delivery. St. Anselm College is where Chris (Kendall and Brady’s Father) graduated from. I thought it sounded like a fantastic idea, its right up the street from my studio and gorgeous. I have photographed weddings there before and the grounds are so nice. We decided to wait until school got out for the year and the students moved out.
We met up on the HOTTEST day of the year. I am not exaggerating at all. It was a scorcher. About 7 minutes into the session everyone was seeking shade and sweating like crazy. Before we could even start, we got stopped. I had a reflector on me, to block random light from hitting the kids, and a security guard came over. He asked if we had prior approval to shoot there, he thought we were doing a commercial shoot, because of the reflector. Nope, just an alum’s family!
We continued roaming around, finding cool shady spots for some gorgeous family photos. The funny thing is the campus is huge, but when you are dealing with a totally sunny day, late morning, you are limited on your spaces. I believe we captured it well, given the circumstances. I had the pleasure of hearing all of Chris’s awesome St. A stories along our journey and learned about a couple meaningful spots.
I love it when I don’t have to try to convince parents to get in the photos with their children. Chris and Jessica are a perfect example of this. They were more then happy to pose in every photo, in each location and did not think twice. On our way out we found a gorgeous lilac bush. They thought we were done, I had other plans, as usual! We took a few more shots as a family and of little Kendall.
Please enjoy this gorgeous family of 4! Jess and Chris, I can’t wait to meet up again!
